A front from the weather it brings
Use this for “Steady rain falls for hours from a gray sheet of cloud, then the air turns warmer. Which front passed?”
Sort
Which front is this?
Tap a card, then tap its group.
Look at how fast the weather changes, which clouds come first and what the air is like after.
Assumptions
•
Northern Hemisphere mid-latitudes, where fronts circle a low and winds veer as they pass.
•
Cold air is denser, so it wedges under warm air: steeply at a cold front, gently at a warm front.
•
An occluded front forms late in a storm, when the cold front catches the warm front.
