Which layer is it in?
Tap a card, then tap its group.
Each layer starts where the temperature turns from cooling with height to warming, or back.
Assumptions
•
The layers are set by how temperature changes with height: falling, rising, falling, rising.
•
Rough heights: troposphere 0 to 12 km, stratosphere 12 to 50 km, mesosphere 50 to 85 km, thermosphere above.
•
The tropopause is higher over the tropics (about 16 km) than over the poles (about 8 km).
